How to set up tournament series and circuits in Spicerack
Creating Series
This guide walks you through the process of creating and configuring tournament series in Spicerack, allowing you to connect multiple events into a cohesive circuit.
What is a Series?
A series in Spicerack is a collection of related tournaments that contribute to an overall leaderboard or championship structure. Examples include:
- Store championship series
- Regional qualifier circuits
- Season-long competitive leagues
Creating a New Series
- From your admin dashboard, navigate to the Series section
- Click the Create New Series button
- Fill in the basic series information:
- Series name
- Description
- Start and end dates
- Banner image (optional)
- Series logo (optional)
Series Configuration Options
Basic Settings
- Series Type: Choose between:
- Point-based (events award points)
- Placement-based (events award placement ranks)
- Custom scoring
- Series Visibility: Public or private
- Registration Requirements: Open, invite-only, or qualification-based
Points Structure
If using a points-based series:
- Define point allocation method:
- Standard distribution (configurable)
- Attendance-based points
- Placement-based points
- Performance-based points (win ratio, game points, etc.)
- Set point values for different achievement levels
- Configure multipliers for premier or finale events (optional)
Adding Events to a Series
There are two ways to add events to your series:
Method 1: Add Existing Events
- From the series dashboard, select Add Events
- Browse or search for existing events to include
- Select events and click Add to Series
- Configure event-specific settings:
- Points multiplier (if applicable)
- Event weight/tier
Method 2: Create New Series Events
- From the series dashboard, select Create Event
- Configure the event details as you would for a standard tournament
- The event will automatically be tagged as part of the series
Series Qualification Rules
Define how players qualify for championship events or earn invitation status:
- Go to the Qualification tab in series settings
- Configure qualification criteria:
- Minimum events attended
- Point thresholds
- Placement requirements
- Invitation structure
Publishing Your Series
Once configuration is complete:
- Review all series settings from the Overview tab
- Click Preview to see how your series will appear to participants
- When ready, click Publish Series
Managing an Active Series
After publishing, you can:
- Monitor standings in real-time
- Add/remove events as needed
- Adjust point values (applies to future events only)
- Send communications to series participants
- Generate series reports and analytics
