# Leaderboards

> Creating and managing leaderboards for your tournament series

# Leaderboards

This guide explains how to set up, customize, and manage leaderboards for your tournament series in Spicerack.

## Understanding Leaderboards

Leaderboards in Spicerack track participant performance across multiple events, calculating standings based on your chosen scoring system. Well-configured leaderboards keep players engaged and provide a competitive structure to your series.

## Setting Up a Leaderboard

### Automatic Leaderboard Creation

When you create a series, a default leaderboard is automatically generated. To access and configure it:

1. Navigate to your series in the admin dashboard
2. Select the **Leaderboards** tab
3. Click on the default leaderboard to edit its settings

### Creating Additional Leaderboards

You can create multiple leaderboards for the same series to track different metrics:

1. From the **Leaderboards** tab, click **Add Leaderboard**
2. Provide a name and description
3. Configure the leaderboard settings

## Leaderboard Configuration Options

### Basic Settings

* **Leaderboard Name**: A descriptive title (e.g., "Overall Standings," "Store Championship Points")
* **Visibility**: Public, participants only, or admin only
* **Description**: Explain what the leaderboard tracks and how points are earned
* **Display Options**: Number of entries to show, styling options

### Scoring System

Choose how participants earn points:

* **Event Placement**: Points based on final standings in tournaments
* **Match Performance**: Points based on match wins, game wins, or other metrics
* **Attendance**: Points for participating in events
* **Custom Metrics**: Define your own point allocation criteria

### Points Formula

Configure the mathematical formula used to calculate points:

1. Select a base formula (linear, exponential, custom)
2. Set point values for different achievements:
   * Tournament placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.)
   * Match wins
   * Game wins
   * Participation
3. Configure multipliers based on:
   * Event importance (regular, premier, championship)
   * Player count
   * Custom factors

## Displaying Leaderboards

### Public View

Customize how leaderboards appear to viewers:

1. Go to **Display Settings**
2. Configure:
   * Columns to display (rank, name, points, events attended, etc.)
   * Sorting options
   * Filters
   * Visual styling

### Embedded Leaderboards

Add leaderboards to your website:

1. Navigate to the **Embed** tab
2. Configure display options
3. Copy the provided embed code
4. Paste into your website HTML

## Leaderboard Management

### Updating Standings

Leaderboard standings update automatically when:

* New event results are finalized
* Scores are adjusted
* Events are added to or removed from the series

For manual updates:

1. Go to the **Manage** tab
2. Click **Recalculate Standings**

### Adjusting Individual Entries

To modify a participant's points or standing:

1. Find the participant in the leaderboard
2. Click **Edit**
3. Adjust their points or add notes
4. Save changes (all adjustments are logged for transparency)

### Filtering and Segmentation

Create filtered views of your leaderboard:

1. Go to the **Filters** section
2. Create filters based on:
   * Geographic regions
   * Player divisions
   * Qualification status
   * Custom participant tags

## Analysis and Reporting

Extract insights from your leaderboard:

1. Navigate to the **Reports** tab
2. Generate reports for:
   * Point distribution
   * Attendance patterns
   * Qualification tracking
   * Series growth and engagement
3. Export data in CSV or Excel format for further analysis
